张掖，著名的河西四郡之一，相比500多公里外的敦煌知名度要小的多。提到张掖大部分人能够想到的应该只有七彩丹霞。“张国臂掖,以通西域”，张掖的建城见证了西汉著名的大司马骠骑将军霍去病收复匈奴这段波澜壮阔的历史。那个少年将军早已不在，但那苍茫的祁连山、散落在戈壁上的汉明长城遗址、存在了千年的山丹军马场等等、都能让我们亲自触摸那段两千年前的记忆。

One of the Four Commanderies of Hexi, Zhangye has a much lower profile than Dunhuang, another commandery about 500 kilometers away. When it comes to Zhangye, most people immediately think of the colorful Danxia landforms. Zhangye bore witness to the magnificent history of the famous general Huo Qubing and, in particular, his defeat of the Xiongnu (the Huns) during the Western Han Dynasty. The general has long since gone, but you can still get a feel for the two thousand years of history through the vast Qilian Mountains, the relics of the Great Wall of the Han and Ming Dynasties scattered in the Gobi Desert, and the Shandan Army Horse-breeding Farm that has stood the test of time for a thousand years.
